Create your own La Majolica Fish Platter series

Maiolica is the refined, white-glazed pottery of the Italian Renaissance, traditionally used for a variety of ceramic objects, including dishes and bowls.

Join Karen Sabitay from Artpod for a series of three Wednesday night classes in the Maker Space at The Heritage Collective and learn to create a La Majolica Fish Platter in your own style, perfect for summer entertaining.

No painting skills are required—actually, the more basic your skills, the better they will work with this style of naive painting. However, if you do have artistic abilities, that’s a bonus!

The workshop will consist of three sessions:

Session 1: Wednesday, 5 November, 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Learn how to observe a real fish and create a drawing based on it.

Session 2: Wednesday, 12 November, 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Explore ideas, sketch out your design, and prepare for your platter.

Session 3: Wednesday, 19 November, 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Paint your fish design onto your platter in the ‘La Maiolica’ style. Your platter will then be fired, and you can collect it once ready.

Previous participants have thoroughly enjoyed this progression of ideas and skills, and they were impressed by their own results. It’s a wonderful opportunity to create artwork that is both decorative and functional while having fun and enjoying some downtime with friends.

Book early to avoid disappointment and secure your spot in this unique experience!
