Lets explore Coral Reefs in Term 4! We have Monday Classes at Beehive Montessori in Mosman park (For Beehive Students only). or Thurday classes for all students at Makerspace, the Heritage Collective in Cottesloe. All details below:
Exploring Coral Reefs: Term 4 project at Beehive Montessori School
Monday 20th October- 8th December (Weekly Mondays)

Come join in the TERM 4 afterschool projects exploring colour patterns in Coral Reefs .
It is our aim to create opportunities to develop awe and wonder about our natural world. Nature is so remarkable with its colours and patterns and we can have fun discovering and playing with these ideas in Art.
This project is bound to inspire and engage boys and girls of all ages and kids are bound to create impressive artwork with Artpod in Term 4.
All materials included at a cost of $400 for the term, which can be paid in 2 instalments.

Mexican Mayhem- Paper Mache Sculpture Project
Mexican Mayhem- Paper Mache Sculpture Project -8 weekly sessions

After School Art for Beehive Montessori Students
Alebrijes are vibrant, whimsical folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures, typically made from wood or paper-mache. This significant art form is often attributes to a young Mexican artist Pedrp Linares, who was sick in a coma and had a weird dream about these strange mythical creatures who chanted Alebrije, Alebrije, Alebrije and told him that it was not his time to pass. So he came back to the world of the living and remembered these fantastic creatures and started to make them. It has grown in popularity with time.
Over 8 weeks in Term 3 on a Monday, we are going to develop our gross motor skills sculpting in wire and decorating in paper mache an Alebrije form. There are endless possibilities and each student will make their own decisions about shapes, colours and patterns. First we build a base armature, then wrap it with newspaper to build the form and cover using a papier-mache technique …. Then the real fun begins with decorating and patterning in the rich, dynamic style of Mexican artwork. Kids will use posca pens, feathers, beads, materials, gems, and all sorts of mixed media to decorate.

Suitable for ages 6+
This creative process involves lots of hands - on techniques :
Building a base armature in wire ( skeleton)
Creating the form and pose pof the animal using paper and tape (body & muscles)
Paper mache the form (skin )
Decorate in a wild assortment of materilas like ribbons, wool, pipe cleaners, jewels etc etc etc (all the special features that bring them to life)
Price $225 for the 5 weeks- All materials included
