Spark their imagination and creativity with art activities this school holidays at The Heritage Collective.
Every class is different and taught by Karen Sabitay from ARTPOD - Creative Arts Centre, and is ideal for children and young people aged 6 to 15 of all creative abilities.
Make a Reindeer Centrepiece over a weekend
Kick off the school holidays with the perfect festive activity! Join us for two mornings of fun and interactive Christmas crafts that kids will love, nuturing playful creativity. Karen Sabitay from Artpod will guide children in making a 3D papier-mâché reindeer, perfect as a centerpiece for your Christmas table or as a joyful decoration anywhere in your home.
Day 1: Construct a basic armature of a reindeer using aluminum wire, newspaper, and masking tape. Then, cover it with papier-mâché and let it dry overnight to create a reindeer form.
Day 2: Kids will decorate their reindeer using real grapevines for horns and mixed media, including ribbons, tassels, Posca pens, etc. It’s super creative and fun! Then, they will take their reindeers home that day.
Two workshops over one weekend:
Saturday 13 December, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm
Sunday 14 December, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm

Metal Shim Embossed folklore ornaments
Christmas is coming and it’s time for kids to start creating unique ornaments for your tree.
Kids will learn how to handle the tools and the technique of embossing on metal shim, then design and create a hanging ornament embellished with beadwork. You will be amazed at the results!
Cost includes one-on-one instruction and all materials.

Handsewn felt folklore ornaments
Christmas is around the corner and time to start creating unique ornaments for your tree.
Join us for a hands-on workshop where boys and girls will create hand-sewn felt ornaments for the Christmas tree. Children will have the opportunity to choose a shape to decorate using stitching, beadwork, and ribbons to make a beautiful 3D ornament. This workshop is a wonderful way to make Christmas more meaningful, nurture pride in your child and bringing a smile to your face.
Cost includes one-on-one instruction and all materials.

Come Fly a Kite!
To celebrate the start of Spring in style, Artpod is hosting a fun ‘Come Fly a Kite’ workshop at The Heritage Collective.
Introduce your kids to the pure joy of making and flying a kite! In this 4-hour Saturday class, children will draw inspiration from the unique and beautiful wildflowers around them as they create designs to draw and paint onto a paper circle. They will then be guided step-by-step to craft a magnificent paper kite that they can fly in the lovely grounds of the Heritage Collective.
Activity 1: Introduction and practice identifying shapes to draw wildflowers.
Activity 2: Trace and extend the design onto the surface of the paper kite.
Activity 3: Colour and paint the design.
Snack Time: 20 minutes (while the paint is drying)
Activity 4: Learn how to construct the kite.
Activity 5: Let’s go fly a kite!

Select a black and white image of an animal and then bring it to life by transforming its shape with vibrant colours, rich patterns, and bold forms. Use a collection of Posca pens to skilfully create your vision on a sheet of textured brown paper, allowing each stroke to blend beautifully with the earthy background.

It's exciting to work on surfaces other than paper, and birds in nature provide wonderful subjects for artistic creation. In this class, we will embark on a mixed media project that combines wood, collage, paint, and Posca pen techniques to create bright and vibrant birds of your choosing.

Frogs are amazing creatures with remarkably long legs, making them fun to 3D model and decorate on a log. We will be using model magic, a real log, hot glue, and mixed media to create your very own froggy friend.

Posca pens are highly pigmented, featuring bright matte colours that have great depth. Artists love their magical effect! In this class, we will use these pens and paint on cardboard to create a bright, dynamic stand-up vase/modern artwork for you to take home!
